The Yard Waste Season in Minnesota typically runs from mid-April through mid-November, weather permitting. This site will be updated as the season gets closer to specify the beginning of the season.

Extra Yard Waste

Wheeled yard waste carts make collecting and transporting yard waste convenient and safe. Lifting heavy cans and bags of yard waste can be a safety hazard for residents and collectors. Extra yard waste can be put out for collection. Please keep the following guidelines in mind to reduce safety hazards.

Extra yard waste may be put in

  • your own containers (32-gallon, 40 lb. limit), or
  • reusable polywoven yard waste bags, or
  • compostable bags or kraft paper yard waste bags, or
  • bundles (4'x2' limit).
